    Purpose

    The primary purpose of performance evaluation and development planning is employee development through structured interaction between manager and employee. The program is designed to maximize quality of performance at UNG by measuring performance, creating development plans, and providing a basis for salary recommendations under the UNG merit pay policy.

    Statement

    1. Evaluations and development plans must be specific and meaningful for both the employee and his or her manager, who share the responsibility for a successful process.

    2. An accurate job description should always be used as the basis for performance evaluations.

    3. This program is applicable to all non-faculty and non-teaching faculty employees at UNG.

    4. Student Assistants, Teaching Assistants and Graduate Assistants are exempt from this process.

    1. Relationship to Promotion and Merit Pay Performance evaluations will be utilized in making promotion and salary increase recommendations in accordance with Board of Regents policies and UNG’s policies and merit pay program. (See Merit Raise Eligibility)

    2. This policy supersedes NGCSU policy 871.0, which was in effect from 7/1/2004 through consolidation.

    Any related operating procedures must comply with and should reference this policy.
