    Purpose

    1. The purpose of this policy is to affirm the Non-Discrimination Policy of the University of North Georgia (the “University”).

    2. This policy supersedes previous policy 890.0, which was in effect from July 1, 2007, through consolidation, and until the effective date of this policy.

    Definitions

    University Community Member: Any persons enrolled at or employed by the University including faculty, staff, administrators and employees, and recognized University affiliated entities including University foundations, Student Organizations, University Departments, and Structured Volunteers.

    Statement

    1. The University is committed to affirmative implementation of equal opportunity in education and employment.

    2. The University does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, creed, national origin, age, disability, or handicap in its programs and activities, including in the administration of its admissions policies, educational policies, employment policies, or any University governed program or activity.

    3. The Human Resources Department has been designated to handle inquiries regarding the non-discrimination policies.

    4. Incidents of harassment and discrimination will be met with appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the University.

    5. All University Community Members are expected to fulfill both the spirit and the law of Equal Employment, Opportunity, and Non-Discrimination.
