Libraries - Inclement Weather

Responsible Department
Effective Date
  1. .

The purpose of this policy is to outline operations of Libraries, at the University of North Georgia (the "University"), during inclement weather.

  2. .

  3. .

    1. The University Inclement Weather Protocol defines essential personnel as those employees that are expected to assist with the mitigation of physical conditions deemed hazardous by campus emergency services personnel.

    2. If an inclement weather hazard impedes academic classes and normal business operations and an official decision has been made by the President of the University, all academic classes and business operations will be suspended.

When this situation occurs, ALL University Libraries will be closed, as part of normal business operations. Protocols of University Libraries will include the following:

      • Chat reference services will be monitored when possible during the closing.

      • The e-resources librarian will update the Facebook page with reminders to the University community about how to access all electronic resources, such as e-books, databases, and the online catalog.

      • The e-resources librarian will update the Facebook page with official University weather updates and reopening information.
